Resources for Adult Catechesis

General Directory for Catechesis (1998) (GDC)
The basis of faith formation from cradle to grave. Sections 85-86 give us the six tasks of catechesis which provide the strands for the Elementary Religious Education Curriculum.

On Good Soil
On Good Soil is the foundation of the Canadian Bishops adult faith formation program. From the Office for Evangelization and Catechesis: “This website is a result of consultation between the members of the Canadian Bishops Episcopal Commission for Evangelization and Catechesis, diocesan directors of faith formation and facilitators of adult formation from across Canada. It is our hope that this site will become a meeting place for those involved in adult faith formation – a place where we can exchange ideas, share resources and support each other in our ministry. If you have material you wish to share with others, or can recommend sites to which we can link, please send these along to the Office for Evangelization and Catechesis.”

Build Bethlehem Everywhere
The Canadian Catholic School Trustees’ Association presented the sixth printing of this timeless Statement on Catholic Education in 2011. Build Bethlehem Everywhere was first published in 2002 and has since become a well-respected resource for Catholic educators across North America.

What makes a school Catholic? What are the characteristics of a Catholic school graduate? It is our hope that you will find the answers to these questions and more within these pages.

United States Catholic Catechism for Adults

The presence of the Catholic Church in the United States reaches back to the founding days of our country through the leadership of Archbishop John Carroll, the first Catholic bishop in the United States. His story, like other stories at the start of the chapters in the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults, gives us a glimpse into the lives of Catholics who lived out their faith throughout our country’s history. Each chapter in the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults includes stories, doctrine, reflections, quotations, discussion questions, and prayers to lead the reader to a deepening faith. The United States Catholic Catechism for Adults is an excellent resource for preparation of catechumens in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and for ongoing catechesis of adults. The United States Catholic Catechism for Adults is an aid and a guide for individuals and small groups to deepen their faith. To order a hard copy click go to the USCCB site.
