We Have Neither Silver Nor Gold

“We Have Neither Silver Nor Gold”: Sample Lessons and Units For Implementing the Religious Education Curriculum Policy Document 2012

In an effort to assist the efforts of grade 7 and 8 teachers in the faith-filled delivery of the Religious Education curriculum and to promote this New Evangelization, “We Have Neither Silver Nor Gold” was developed for teachers by teachers. This resource is meant to help teachers in their role as faith educators: “The primary role for teachers with regard to Religious Education is the transmission of knowledge about the faith. The secondary role is to support the catechetical efforts of the parish and the home. This is a participation in the work of the Church in which they become ministers of the Word and teach on be half of the Christian community” (Religious Education: Ontario Catholic Elementary Curriculum Policy Document (Grades 1‐8), page 11).
At the same time, this resource is meant to be a supplementary resource and a guide
for grade 7 and 8teachers, by providing them with:
  • A proposed clustering of grade 7 and 8 expectations
  • Sample lessons, built upon the three part lesson format
  • A list of recommended Catholic electronic resources and websites
