CARFLEO Conference 2016

CATHOLIC ASSOCIATION OF RELIGIOUS AND FAMILY LIFE EDUCATORS OF ONTARIO CONFERENCE 2016

“Mercy that Transforms: Creating Spaces of Hope”

APRIL 14th-15th, 2016

Queen of the Apostles Renewal Centre, Mississauga, Ontario

IS THE CONFERENCE FOR ME?

If you have a strong commitment to Catholic education and want to expand your knowledge of contemporary religious and family life education issues, then this conference is for you!

The theme of the 2016 CARFLEO Conference flows out of Pope Francis’ declaration of the Jubilee Year of Mercy, and the situation of refugees in the world today, especially those fleeing violence in Syria, many of whom are coming to Canada and finding places in our classroom.

We will seek to learn from the experience and insight of our keynote speaker, Mary Jo Leddy, whose vision is described as follows: “We believe that the refugees who come to Romero House are, in some profound way, our brothers and sisters. Each one has an inherent dignity and is of infinite value. Together, we are part of the human family. It is because of this that we have chosen to welcome the stranger who comes to the door of our lives.”

The conference will provide opportunities to reflect on how “living with each other, and being with each other as good neighbours, helps us to act for others in a dignifying way.”

In this session prior to the Conference AGM, Les Miller and Tony Cosentino will explore the DVD and facilitator’s guides designed to accompany teachers on their faith journeys. Each module is related to a key component of the curriculum (New Evangelization, Liturgical Year, Sacred Scripture, Creed, and Six Tasks of Catechesis).
