CARFLEO Retreat 2020

Praying in, with and for Creation:  A spiritual integration of Laudato Si

APRIL 2-3, 2020

Queen of the Apostles  Renewal Centre,  Mississauga, Ontario

1617 Blythe Road,  Mississauga, ON  L5H 2C3 (905) 278-5229

IS THE RETREAT FOR ME? If you have a strong commitment to Catholic education and want to deepen your personal  connection with contemporary issues in Religious and Family Life education, then this retreat is for you!

WHAT CAN I EXPECT? Last year’s CARFLEO conference focused on Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si which concludes with a chapter on ‘Ecological Education and Spirituality’.  This year’s retreat, led by Sisters Mary Rowell and Linda Gregg of the Villa St. Joseph Ecology and Spirituality Centre, will lead a spiritual integration to deepen our understanding and move us to an ecological conversion.  How do we move from head to heart to action?  How can we internalize Pope Francis’ call to recognize that “Nothing in this world is indifferent to us?” Let us join together in prayer and reflection on how Religious and Family Life education can foster a move towards an integral ecology.

CARFLEO retreats provide:

  • Spiritual renewal
  • Opportunities for prayer and reflection
  • Excellent retreat directors
  • Provocative discussions
  • Current information for educators
  • Great food and conversation
  • Networking
  • Displays

Sister Mary Rowell and Sister Linda Gregg are both part of the team at the Villa St. Joseph Ecology and Spirituality Centre in Cobourg Ontario.  They are members of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Canada and value holistic spirituality inclusive of all peoples and all the earth.  At the Villa, they approach ministry and programs from an ecological, inter-faith and justice-oriented stance.

Sister Mary Rowell is originally from Cambridge in England and was the keynote speaker at last year’s conference. She is also a parttime faculty member at the University of Toronto where she teaches Moral Theology and Catholic Social Teaching at St. Michael’s and Regis Colleges.

Sister Linda Gregg’s roots are in the West Coast of Canada where a deep love of God’s creation was nurtured in her.  She has a Doctorate of Ministry in Eco-Theology from Toronto School of Theology and is an experienced retreat director and organic master gardener. She coordinates an 80-plot organic community garden. Sisters Mary and Linda provides workshops and retreat facilitation with various Catholic School Boards which they find enjoyable and inspirational.
