This is a simple and local resource for information for the sacraments of initiation prepared in our schools (including outlines for the school’s role in Sacramental Preparation). There is general sacramental information (including history and CCC links) from the Archdiocese of Toronto. Catholics believe the Eucharist or Communion, is both a sacrifice and a meal. We believe in the real presence of Jesus, who died for our sins. The Catholic Sacrament of Reconciliation (also known as the Sacrament of Penance, or Penance and Reconciliation) has three elements: conversion, confession and celebration. In it we find God’s unconditional forgiveness, and as a result we are called to forgive others. This website is a great link to many articles that deal with the various aspects of Reconciliation. Visio Divina Resource: The Seven Sacraments Altarpiece. The Seven Sacraments Altarpiece is a fixed-wing triptych by Rogier van der Weyden and his workshop.
The triptych shows how the Seven Sacraments of the Church are taking place simultaneously within the same church. Baptism, Confirmation and Confession are set in the north aisle and its chapels, in the left wing. The Eucharist is at the altar in the nave. Ordination, Marriage and Extreme Unction are set in the south aisle and its chapels, in the right wing.
