This site represents the work of students, faculty and staff involved in graduate theological education at Union Presbyterian Seminary with campuses in Charlotte, NC and Richmond, VA.
The resources shared on these pages had their genesis in the knowledge and enthusiasm of two professors who shared their love of books for children and adolescents and their conviction that these books could serve as a rich resource for those involved in educational ministry in the church. The material took shape as students in the course used what they had learned to craft learning resources that could be used in the church. With help from staff at the William Smith Morton Library on the Richmond campus, this blog finally emerged as a way to share this enthusiasm, creativity and knowledge with the broader church.
The resources here are divided into book reviews, lesson plans using children’s books, and other ideas for using children’s literature in ministry. Occasionally, Union Presbyterian Seminary alumni will also be asked to contribute ideas from their work in the church. It is our prayer that these resources will be a prod to your own imagination, your own pleasure in this particular genre of literature, and in your ministry. — from the About page of the website.
